You know what, it’s one of those days, have Cookie Monster kaiju again.

Which one? I am going to one tomorrow (featuring the mighty Goblin Band)

It's not too bad for Parnell St (which is one of my regular destinations) but O'Connell St is a bit of a trudge. You could wait til it gets to the quays I suppose but the route looks like it does a big triangle to get there. Sigh.

I still remember a particularly tragic day in NYC where I got a blister and discovered that hardly anywhere there (at the time) sold them. Later saw one in a display case as a "new design classic" in MoMA, which felt like I was being mocked.

He is unsettlingly clammy-looking.

Ha! Though sometimes I quite like to smell of, if not mud, then maybe a bit of a field.

Obviously no shade on the actual improvements, like my beloved N4 The Wonder Bus (which since its inception has meant child the younger could ferry himself to a variety of rehearsals, summer camps, events) and the all night 15.

(if anyone says "but you can still go on the Luas" I will pelt them with Leap cards)

Like, grand, be nice, but not if it cocks up public transport for half the city.

I think I am also especially irked because some of the changes/proposed changes are to facilitate pedestrianizing College Green, and while I am MAD FOR PEDESTRIANIZING THINGS and have a lengthy mental laundry list of streets we should get cars off, I kind of DGAF about College Green?

Through a variety of scheduling failures/coincidences yesterday I did:
1 x spin class
1 x aerial silks class
1 x swimming lesson
I presume this means that today I do not need to move at all and will be carried around in a sedan chair or similar?

I still don't know what came over me.

Ah yes, the band with the lowest sense of quality control in history.

The first Jamiroquai album. There was one good bit in one song and the rest was godawful.

It was SO MUCH FUN. I was not very good at it but still want to go again.
msleedy.bsky.social
Yes, especially for a change that is essentially a downgrade for most use cases.

Genuinely a bit concerned about all the little old ladies who get it into town. It's about 99% aul wan (with or without shopping trolleys) at certain times of day.
msleedy.bsky.social
I do appreciate the routes need revamping and I'm not wedded to the notion of direct buses everywhere but it does feel like the NE side of town has been particularly hit with the "but you can still get to town! Well, the Customs House" stick.
msleedy.bsky.social
Hmm, the combo of switching to Go Ahead and the fact that the route now no longer goes to Parnell St, O'Connell St, or Dame St does ... not seem like an improvement.

Dublin's 123 bus is changing on Oct 19th.

It's becoming the 73, with a new company running it, similar frequency, and a new route - particularly in the city centre.

[abruptly stops playing my air banjo] Oh the intervention is for ME?

We have an equivalent here called Fastway who are legendary for their "sure it'll do" approach to delivery. I have on more than one occasion had someone arrive from the other end of my road with "your parcel was in my garden".

More interesting background on this kindly little mom and pop landlording consortium who cannot possibly be discouraged from providing "supply" by eviction bans:

This has been an ongoing problem which is courtesy of a Luxembourg investment fund that owns thousands of houses in Ireland. These are rented out through one of the dozens of subsidiary companies that the fund uses to obscure its ownership.

Call me a cynic, but I don't think lifting the evictions ban is going to reduce homelessness in the medium to long term like they promised

On Kerry Today with @jerosullivanrk.bsky.social -
- 34 people, including 15 children living in a Killarney housing estate, face homelessness as their landlord begins a mass eviction process.
- 14 households have received termination notices.
