It's a small piece, but a step in the direction I advocate for.

Yes, it includes the "GO Subdivision" (Lakeshore East line from Pickering to Oshawa). It doesn't include the Union Pearson Express Spur to the airport yet, that's part of QA/QC. It should be noted that these are just corridor lengths, and not a breakdown of individual tracks.

I have more thoughts on how the GTHA rail network (for all owners and operators) has significantly changed over the last 75 years, and ignoring the bypass is ignoring that history. This graph is incomplete and will require QA/QC, but it's a hint at the trajectory we should be maintaining.

This is educational, but also depressing at the same time. It's not just slop hurting @kurzgesagt.org, but like, the whole web.

No doubt it would take a long time. I'd expect it to take at least 50% more time than the CN (Halton/York) bypass. But that's why we gotta stop kicking the can down the road and start today.

And not just for rail service. That would make an excellent rail trail...

User feels like GTHA Bypass is not getting any love. Of course not. Wynne carved away at it, Ford killed it, and the feds haven't tried to revive it with their participation.

Suspension of accts from Bluesky has called into question the mission and very existence of Blacksky. "If bsky can still suspend you, what's the point?"

For one usually Bluesky doesn't just suspend you. They delete all of your data AND suspend you. Moving to Blacksky prevents that. 4/11

Day 1324. I had to go pick up a couple items tonight, but I tacked on a trip to the library (for myself!) and a public transit trip. Not bad for a Tuesday.

Yeah, it was a side thought that fell out while pondering the parental weight on Millenial Canadian parents' social lives.

Is it possible why some of us here band together here online is because we're simultaneously digital / professional extroverts and casual social introverts?

Metrolinx's attempt to puff up adding 1 train to the 3 round trips to/from Niagara Falls backfired. Original news release said "8 trips *in each direction*" instead of "8 trips each day". Maybe we should avoid word inflation. H/T @wb62.bsky.social for catching this. urbantoronto.ca/forum/thread...
Original Metrolinx statement about a train service increase to Niagara Falls:

"Beginning Nov. 1, weekend service to Niagara Falls will increase, with eight trips in each direction on Saturdays and Sundays — making weekend travel more consistent and flexible." Original Metrolinx statement about a train service increase to Niagara Falls:

Day 1322. It's such a wild fall day. 25°C, not a cloud in the sky, still a ton of foliage that's green or at least hanging on.

When Ontarians think of how stunning nature can be in this country, our minds too easily shift to the Rockies, or the BC/Maritimes coasts. They're incomparable, but there's nowhere else on this planet like the Great Lakes. The fact our greatest city has one as a coastline? Unreal.
