There’s actually an obscure state law that says that if you’re a white guy who went to Harvard and you can say “nothing can be done” in a snide tone while posing as a pragmatist, the New York Times is legally obligated to publish anything you write

Those of us old enough to remember the1980s televangelists recognize this phenomenon. The parodies (I recommend the great Tim Curry’s 1988 Pass the Ammo!) are funny to us because we think “those rubes, how can they be so gullible.” But combine a 5th grade reading level and desperation = easy math.
The government is shutdown, and millions of Americans are about to go without food and/or medicine because of him.

So what does Donald Trump do? Keeps bragging about his $300,000,000 golden ballroom and throws a Great Gatsby party at his private resort.

He is so stupidly tone-deaf.

If we can’t read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein together in front of a crackling fire whilst enjoying a vintage bottle of Château Lafite-Rothschild in an ominous Victorian mansion during a full moon on a cool October night with the sound of wolves in the distance, then aren't we both wasting our time?

Trump is responsible for the soybean and beef farmer chaos we are watching unfold right now. Now, he wants to buy beef from Argentina, hanging our farmers out to dry. Until the GOP breaks from him on his mission of economic arson, they're #ArgentinaFirst

As I head “back to the front” today 🫡
My quote of the day

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.

This is truly terrifying.

*Court rules that Trump's policies are illegal but allows them to stand anyway* is the best summary of America in 2025 I know.
Appeals court strikes down Trump’s tariffs as illegal but leaves them in place
Trump’s cornerstone economic policy faced another challenge as a federal appeals court ruled he did not have the authority under an emergency powers act to impose them.

Lol and nyt and cnn just gobble it up and pass it on.
So much is summarized by Steve Bannon's 2018 quote: "The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit."

It's a widely known quote, but so much is captured in it. You don't need to do too much literal censorship. Just flood all the zones with shit.

Nuh uhhhhh…it’s the hordes of trans women storming women’s bathrooms!
Multiple men have impersonated ICE agents to assault women & @demwomencaucus.bsky.social is demanding action.

“People cannot tell the difference between a real agent & a criminal & that makes everyone less safe – especially immigrant women who are the most vulnerable," @velazquez.house.gov told me.

In a letter shared with HuffPost, the Democratic Women’s Caucus urged DHS to mandate ICE agents to “visibly and clearly identify themselves" when making arrests.

Sadly, I think having nuts to begin with is required to “nut the fuck up” and well….
democrats are going to be dealing with anti-trans hate until they either

- nut the fuck up and defend these people from bigoted attacks

- concede to every republican attack on the issue, inevitably leading to the total eradication of trans people from all public life

literally the only 2 options

Republicans complain about Texas Democrats “fleeing”—yet just days ago, they themselves fled D.C. to avoid voting on the Epstein files.

Why? To protect a convicted felon sitting in the Oval Office.

One side dodges accountability.
The other fights for democracy.
