Federal employees have been through enough already. They shouldn’t be pawns in the standoff.

NEWS: The D.C. Council just passed an emergency bill allowing anyone to get a COVID-19 vaccine without a doctor's prescription, which have been requested recently due to changes in federal vaccine recommendations. (And some D.C. residents have had to go to Maryland or Virginia.)

Today is publication day for The Nursing Clio Reader. As I write in the preface of the book, I started Nursing Clio back when I was a second-semester grad student as part of a final project in a public humanities seminar taught by historian Matthew Countryman at UMich. 🧵

You know what wins real wars against peer opponents? Warehouses full of bombs and bullets and tourniquets, maintenance crew to service the vehicles that move them and "warriors" to where they need to go, and boring spreadsheets to tell you how much of everything you have. Logistics! Logistics!

At the federal agency I worked at, every new administration, like clockwork, would spend $$$ on a rebrand to make us “more relevant.” So much money spent to fundamentally misinterpret our mission. Same here.

WIRED @wired.com · Sep 5
How far the rebranding might go is unclear, but any comprehensive effort would saddle taxpayers with costs in the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars.
