I've done death investigations of prisoners placed in prone positions in a squad car after being faced. Tear gas/mace is heavier than air. Do not lay down in tear gas. Do not lay down, especially with a face covering. You could suffocate.

I had the fleeting thought that maybe the Democrats are afraid of being Lindsey Grahamed, dismissed it as overly paranoid, then read this thread and circled back on that thought.
I want to address the concerns about Elon Musk's DOGE people getting access to Americans' basic personal data:

Elon Musk is not a Federal employee or a political appointee. DOGE is not a real department. None of their activities are legal. This is a coup. The Republicans in Congress are willing participants in it. At what point do Democrats in DC get that and start acting like it? It’s not the price of eggs!
