Trying to get the humble bus the respect it deserves 🚍♥️
This event is Monday January 19 and there is FREE not chocolate ☕

I love the idea of "the downtown's living room"

(Nice poster too)

What a first night (for me), starting with an excellent Iranian thriller, and closing with the amazing Paris, Texas, in 4K. After Paris, Texas the rows infront and and behind me were filled with whispers from some very young bilm buffs seeing it for the first time "wow that was reeeally good 🥲"

Had a blast checking out the "new" Park Theatre after The Rio was able to take it over with helpful investments from Vancouverite and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, and others ♥️🎬

In March @movementyvr.bsky.social put on a huge rally to Save the Bus. The following month, Mayors and province came together and transit in Metro Van was saved from service cuts and a death spiral.

Soon, we will finally have service levels that go above and beyond what we haven't had since 2019🥳🙏🚍

Is Toronto finally having a reckoning over streetspace allocation and the fact that their extensive surface transit network is slow as hell?

Stay tuned.

quite bold for Vancouver to keep this on some of their council letterhead after essentially voting to lay off 400 staff last week

Lots of interesting data and charts in this study. Temperature measurement across the city really highlight how hot Brow of the Hill can get, and the eastern portion of the city near Sapperton.

Delegate 4. Thanking various councillors for helping them at 13th & 6th on the topic of some amount of parking removal. It was never said why parking was actually being removed. Or how much parking.

Ok, it's going from 9->5 parking spaces. Staff also said this public parking can not be numbered.

Almost time to start. Most seats in here are full and there's a pretty cheerful mood I would say. Let's see if that sticks around :)

Fontaine brings an amendment to the Implications of Housing Legislation on Curbside Management report, all about parking in the city. Lots here being read out, holy smokes.

- neighbourhood by neoughbourhood parking impact assessments.
- every household guaranteed a minimum of one permit

After the proclamation is read by the mayor, many photos!

Hey #NewWest ! It's council night! In honour of Go By Transit Week, and the pouring rain, I'm taking the bus a few stops to get to city hall 😅☔

A few of my favourite photos from the first part of my recent trip to Newfoundland: around St. John's and the very Irish Avalon Peninsula. I was fascinated by the area's ties to the sea (as with the rest of NL), the strategic importance of St. John's harbour in WW2, and the similarity to Ireland.

Hey #NewWest , sorry, no live posting of the council meeting tonight. I'm in Newfoundland & Labrador checking out the Petro-Canada Replica Viking Furnace Hut (in a National Historic Site!!). Couldn't believe that.

Anyway, Vikings!

Should we add hundreds of businesses to the rapid transit network, or zero? 🚍

Should we route BRT through Burnaby Heights, or along Boundary Rd?

They're the same question. Tell TransLink that routing rapid transit away from key destinations is a dumb idea 🤦

The computer running the slide show here is saying it needs to RESTART. Is Windows going to kill this meeting like Fontaine and Minhas did last time?
