Had a great time at #Momocon showing off the Macross II documentary! A big thank you to everyone who showed up, and for Big West and AnimEigo for sponsoring my trip.

Tenchi fandom, you showed up: in under a week, this campaign reached $50,000! We're speechless. Thank you ALL who made this project a reality. We'll be posting an update for backers soon. (And if you're not yet a backer, there's still time to hop aboard this train!)

There are virtually no photos of me from shooting the Macross II doc, but I'm so thankful that Jon and Debra had the foresight to take some, haha.

I'm glad that the world can finally see this doc! It was a fantastic project to bring to life, and I am grateful to everyone at AnimEigo, Creative Sphere, Big West, Robert Napton, David Keith Riddick, and everyone who participated.

The thing that nobody talks about in this situation is the guy who runs that bar? He will get relentless shit by even some of the other non-Nazi patrons for doing this. This is why this is such a problem. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, they'd rather just let a few in then have the constant battle.

John Sykes was one of those legendary guitar players who just seemed to strike a chord.

The song he did for Black Heaven, Cautionary Warning, will always be closest to my heart. RIP. Today really sucks man.

The whole POINT of personal sites is to have a stable location on the internet where you can park your stuff, so people can still see it when everything else goes up in flames

It’s not a replacement for social media, it’s more like your permanent base, and social media is used to point people to it

With the death of tiktok around the corner, I felt the need to describe my time with it to my mutuals who didn't use it and those who never understood it. The discovery algorithm was perfect, it literally felt natural and organic when a video came across your fyp, and no app will ever replace it.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023) This and Dinner in America have pretty much made modern Hollywood dead to me. All the heart and soul of cinema is now in the indies. A fantastic Quebec-french film with tons of charm and sweet baby jesus NUANCE, AHH IT'S NOT DEAD YET.

Watched War of the Rohirrim on NYE. Fantastic addition to the LOTR franchise. Enjoyed it more than the totality of the Hobbit, and leagues more than Rings of Power. If you're a fan of the franchise you really should see it. @clarknova.bsky.social and company should feel proud of this one.

2025 is the year of no regrets. It's gonna be a hard year, but it's gonna be a great one too. Do the things that you've always wanted to do, be with the people you've always wanted to be with, and don't let your dreams be dreams.

It finally came! The gold version of the Japanese repress of Daft Punk's Discovery featuring the Crescendolls from Interstella 5555.
I was lucky enough that I saw someone on Reddit mention it 15 minutes after it went live and snagged a copy before they sold out.

I finally installed Windows 11 on my main PC, and it didn't recognize my old PS/2 keyboard. Thankfully the driver is still there in Windows, but the fact you have to install it, and Windows just assumes you're going to be using a USB keyboard now. Ooof, that'll make you feel old 💀

Been super busy, but I saw some more movies over my birthday weekend. First - haven't seens:
Flesh + Blood (1985) -
Rutger Hauer is always a treat to watch, and absolutely a reference for Berserk here. Very gritty fantasy with complex main characters. Great watch but very adult themes.

There's a project on Archive to catalog as much of the MySpace era music that they can that has never been saved or released anywhere else. Without @archive.org so many small artists who released one or two things would never be heard from again were it not for this effort.
Our letter with 350+ musicians demanding that music labels drop their lawsuit to destroy @internetarchive.bsky.social is STILL ACCEPTING SIGNATURES.

Musicians can still speak out. In fact, we're hoping for a groundswell: www.savethearchive.com

Fans and archive-lovers can sign in solidarity, too!
