From way back when Twitter was a fun place to share nerdy city planning analysis.
I still love this photo comparing central LA and San Francisco densities... they're roughly the same.

An oldie but a goodie… now overlaid with rail.
My crude attempt to show where rail transit goes in central LA and San Francisco in their densest areas.

Just in time for the holidays: the M Ocean View terminal stop at Balboa Park just got major safety improvements. What a dramatic change. Also -- this is the first location for a new transit stop lighting pilot project, using solar lights. Check it out if you're nearby.

Loving the stunning drone footage throughout this video — making the case for Taraval as among the most scenic light rail lines anywhere.

Very fun podcast episode about the Taraval project. Transformative work, on a street that is in the running for my favorite commercial corridor in SF.
SF is steadily upgrading its aging infrastructure. On Taraval, we replaced failing utility lines and rebuilt a key rail line - on time and on budget. Learn more about its benefits on our new podcast:

In our 7x7 mile city, SF now has 75 miles of transit-only lanes. Result:
- Buses up to 35% faster
- 50% reduction in injury collisions on transit corridors
- Highest public approval rating since 2001
- Over 10 lines exceeding pre-COVID ridership

Hello!

This is a personal account, but I hope to post about what we’ve accomplished with transit priority in SF (a lot!), where we’re headed next, and challenges to project delivery.

Also looking to learn from peer cities, especially when it comes to solving for signal priority and intersections.

SFMTA and Public Works are planning a plaza on Church Street near Market Street.

The plaza would widen the sidewalk, create space for local businesses and community, and provide a better experience for people walking, biking, and taking public transportation.

What do you think?

Check out the absolutely beautiful designs for the upcoming Church and Market transit plaza. Still a lot of detail design work to do, but looking forward to seeing this come to life. www.sfmta.com/reports/chur...

SF is known for its cable cars, but we're really a city of buses. This awesome video by @streetfilms.bsky.social shows how we're transforming our city into the "Copenhagen of transit priority".
