a certain ferrari chairman pissed me off so bad that i went and wrote half an essay
imagine you've dedicated yourself to a team your entire life. you've suffered and struggled with them, carried them on your back when they were at their worst, loved them even when the love wasn't reciprocated. repeatedly demonstrated your loyalty, even when it required sacrificing your own results and reputation. the latest weekend arrives and you work and push and deliver seemingly beyond what the laws of physics dictate are possible. that's what you've always done - make miracles happen even when you're given almost nothing to work with. it's been a season of disappointment but hell if you're not going to keep your head high and try to get the best results every time anyways. then the day comes for you to try and reap the fruits of your labour, and before you've even had the chance to work your magic, you're taken out through no fault of your own. you can do absolutely nothing as he crashes into you and this car you've been wrangling for months now just falls apart around you. all that work for nothing, and it's almost cruelly symbolic. despite your frustration being obvious on your sleeve, you stay level headed in your response, never the one to be cruel even under cruel circumstances. then, just as you're ready to put this latest disappointment behind you, the company chairman, who cannot be further removed from the grind and emotion of the sport, puts you and your racing partner's heads publicly on the proverbial platter. you're not dedicated enough, you're not focused enough, you're too selfish, you don't care enough. you - the man who's been the steadfast embodiment of this team's hopes and dreams. "it's clear that unity can help us turn [the situation] around," you say, because you know what it means to care so excruciatingly deeply, and what it means to unite those you love around a dream, even if countless critics, pundits, reporters, even higher ups in your own team don't seem to see it.
