This is the kind of shit you get when you appoint dog killers to high office. It’s a signal to the worst people all the way down the org chart.
US Marshals, acting on behalf of the DOJ in Memphis, TN, kicked a dog during an arrest, leaving it with a broken rib.

Our system absolutely falls on its face when it comes to things that are hard to quantify or where we can’t attribute a single cause to a single, immediate effect.

Our failure to provide basic civics education has come at a staggering public cost.

It’s worth asking who has benefited from that.
one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

This is worth a read. I am a law reporting nerd but this isn't just for law nerds.

What's happening in courts and in the doj needs to be reported on and seen to understand how unprecedented the present is.

Set aside some time to read it.
I wrote this thread last night while in the midst of doing the reporting and research and reading that I needed to do to do this story right — www.lawdork.com/p/the-system... — but it feels all the more important today, following the Post news.
One of the things that I most like about the way that I am able to operate at Law Dork is that when I want to spend time looking into something before I write, I just do it. When I think I need to spend more time on the law behind something before I tell you what’s going on, I just do it.

Is there something about being billionaires that turns people into raging sociopaths, or is it that you have to be a raging sociopath to become a billionaire in the first place?

They were wholly unprepared for normie, often white, citizens to stand up and say “fuck you, I’d die for this shit.”

Total failure to comprehend how anyone could possibly give a shit about people they don’t know, or even abstract principles like decency, freedom, and due process.
“If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

Turns out “Democracy dies in darkness” wasn’t so much a dire warning as it was a simple, present-tense observation.

happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

Any litigant, any target of a subpoena or discovery request, any criminal defendant, should fight them on every motion, on every request, on every contested issue.

They are bleeding talent, institutional knowledge, and credibility. They cannot fight on every front.

We are winning.
Mass resignation time.

We are approaching the point that lawfully present residents of Minneapolis would qualify for refugee status in other countries.
“Refugees have a legal right to be in the United States, a right to work, a right to live peacefully — and importantly, a right not to be subjected to the terror of being arrested and detained without warrants or cause in their homes or on their way to religious services…” said Judge John R. Tunheim

Breaking MS NOW:

Trump's Justice Department has decided there will be no civil rights investigation of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, and instead two units of DHS will investigate their own officers and the man they killed.

that's not how anything works they're lying and destroying evidence hope that helps
And what is happening inside ICE detention centers? 404 Media also learned that the federal government claimed that the day after it was sued for allegedly abusing detainees at an ICE detention center, a “system crash” deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility.
ICE Says Critical Evidence In Abuse Case Was Lost In 'System Crash' a Day After It Was Sued
The government also said "we don't have resources" to retain all footage and that plaintiffs could supply "endless hard drives that we could save things to."

This was entirely predictable when they sent these fuckers here. In other words, it was intentional. Anyone who says otherwise is a fucking liar.
