the vibe of this kind of post is almost feeling sorry for yourself in a way that is sad to me. at the very least, post about how you pitched the idea a lot and no one will take it. that's the type of poor-little-old-me content that we can all get behind and relate to, people!

i am not an editor anymore and am back to freelancing which means i am pitching a lot. is it annoying and terrible? yes absolutely. and so i have sympathy for this. and probably have written posts like this myself as a joke. but if you're serious, in any way, shoot your shot and send the email pitch

we all have our pet peeves and unfortunately one of mine is writers who post stuff like "if anybody wants me to write about XYZ topic, i'm right here." back when i was an editor, i did sometimes find writers via social media, but it can be very hard to search. much easier when ppl simply emailed me

it is better to not say anything at all than to do this. especially if you're going to either make fun of your users (e.g. waffle jokes) or make incorrect generalizations (like this one -- not true, in both "good" and "bad" situations. e.g., multiple women quit covering games after gamergate).
