Watching the R's tank the budget agreement this quickly gives me hope that this is how bad they're gonna be at everything, and they really will drain any popularity they have. Still bad the governments gonna shut down though

I don't even really have words for how angry the father in this story makes me. I regularly will be out doing something with my kids and a stranger will be like "you're a good dad" and I know no one would ever say that, like that, to my wife because it's what is expected of her. It's pathetic
a 🧵 on the way women and caregiving expectations

this weekend I was on a ~4hr flight seated in the aisle with another woman in her late 30s/early 40s in the window seat. toward the end of boarding, a dad came through with his 5yo daughter to take the middle seats on either side of this row. 1/

"And it's Kattan... He's just crushing it"

I am once again thinking about what a masterpiece Nope is, and this scene in particular. Jupe has only been able to process his trauma through a clearly rehearsed speech about an SNL sketch, and the moment it gets a little too close to reality he breaks

A small modern curse I've been workshopping is "may your niche interests go viral!" Because there's nothing like going online and seeing a whole army of people who have the rough outlines of something right, but you can see every detail they got wrong

Die Hard as a Christmas movie is a perfect 2024 social media meme because most people don't care, but there is still a whole group of people who think they are gonna make people care by repeating the same tired shit
can we not do the "die hard is a Christmas movie" thing here please. "remember thing that wasn't entertaining or edifying on twitter but just a non-argument about which even the most bored person alive could not credibly be thought to actually care" can we not. for my Christmas present. please

Had to slightly rethink this since a couple of my favorites have recently got new releases. I also could do this for no region A release and for OOP blus like Zardoz and the Night House

A movie about Y2K, another getting critical notice for Fred Durst, Malcom in the Middle making new episodes, and I just saw there's a new Paris Hilton/Nicole Ritchie show?

We gotta stop this before it's too late people

Remember when there was a Twitter account for the Robert Evansesque character Ben Stiller played in Licorice Pizza for 5 seconds? And some people thought Thomas Pynchon was writing it?

Anything ever happen with that?

Trump wants to end the FDIC and Polio vaccines. It is very tough to have reasonable engagement with people who are trying to bring about the end times. Apocalypse cults are self-reinforcing. It's only as people realize the end goal isn't coming that they start to leave. We need to accelerate that

Holy shit Tony Khan actually blamed a language barrier for why Ray Fenix didn't get better medical attention. "Our billion dollar company can't communicate with Spanish speakers" is not better Tony

I'm letting myself get too angry on social media again so time to talk about things I love instead. Like Star Trek Deep Space 9.

This is Morn. He is a regular at Quark's and his bit is that he never talks on camera, but Morn supposedly never shuts up and is quite the ladies man. He rules

Claiming we're too prosperous a nation is like you do just see poor people as a different species don't you?

Days like today remind me that political correctness was originally a term used by people on the left to describe the people in their own group who were so high on the smell of their own farts that they were functionally useless
