Perhaps Swedes are finally beginning to wake up and recognize that the roots of most societal issues here lie in Protestantism and its post-Protestant legacy with purity culture, consensus, and moral rigidity.

I never read Mario Vargas Llosa’s books, but he stood out as one of the few liberal voices from Latin America I saw represented in the swedish media. A complex, interesting figure.
