Have you seen a fake reel? One of these fake videos going around and showing up on your timeline someplace? I discuss another one I received and then tie that into the mythical story of AI and what happens when that story collapses. Season 2 continues!

So far, I've shared this with 3 people online proposing that the real answer was to teach kids to use AI but know its limitations. Ugh. Let's hope they read it because it's an excellent resource.
CAIL = prerequisite knowledge for a critical perspective, such as to tell apart nonsense hype from true theoretical computer scientific claims. For example, the idea that human-like systems are a sensible or possible goal is the result of circular reasoning and anthropomorphism. olivia.science/ai

Just stop and think: We are sitting here, in November 2025, in the middle (or the beginning-middle) of a credible investigation into whether the president of the United States engaged in sex acts with underage girls.

Let that sink in. trib.al/S1DnYZY

How many good people lost their jobs because the current President, and the people surrounding him, are horrible and disgusting? That's the cost of not standing up to him. And as the Epstein files prove what we all knew already, don't let the enablers get away with it either.
NIH scientist Dr. Jenna Norton was just placed on nondisciplinary leave.

She led a team who wrote a sign-on letter critical of The Regime.

A person at NIH asked to give a reason for her leave called her “radical leftist”; while the NIH Director has claimed that “dissent is productive”.

It's pretty clear that a major tactic from US tech companies, data centre developers and lobbyists is trying to present data centres as clean tech virtually identical to batteries, solar panels, transmission lines.

That creates a framing where community backlash can be dismissed as hollow NIMBYism

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

I have no knowledge of what happened at UVA. I do know Jim Ryan and regard him with deep respect. I can't believe he would do anything other than tell the truth just as he experienced it. This seems likely to go down as one of the most sordid chapters in the history of American academic freedom.
Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ.

It's a surreal--and troubling--read.
