Big Oil's cheerleaders (yes, including THAT John Yoo) are taking to right wing outlets to beg the Supreme Court to kill climate deception lawsuits.

The fossil fuel industry is terrified of these cases.

They knew, they lied, and communities deserve their day in court to hold them accountable.

"Industry groups have said an immunity shield is not their first priority."

Meaning, it's a priority.

Big Oil is not above the law. Congress must reject any proposal to shield fossil fuel companies from facing accountability in court.

Big Oil is turning to its political allies in a desperate bid to escape accountability.

“It’s a nonstop effort by the oil and gas industry to somehow get a get-out-of-jail-free card,” said CCI’s Richard Wiles.

They knew their fossil fuel business harms communities. They lied. They need to pay.

Do you think the fossil fuel industry should be above the law?

For months now, we’ve heard rumblings of Big Oil companies lobbying Congress for a get-out-of-jail free card. But in the last few weeks, their allies have started to say the quiet part out loud. CCI's @iylas.bsky.social explains.

It’s all part of a bigger play by the fossil fuel industry to secure special legal protections from climate accountability lawsuits.

So ... who put language in this House bill to defund D.C.'s climate lawsuit against Big Oil??? 👀

A great question for more reporters and officials to ask.
From an article: We reached out to ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, and BP for comment but didn’t hear back. The House Appropriations Committee similarly did not respond to our questions about who pushed for the rider to be included in the spending bill, which still requires approval by the full House and Senate.
