Blommkamp, Nolan, and Malick team up to adapt Greg Egan's magnum opus, Diaspora.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

This is a shocking image (and that's 100% the point).

I wish this article had hit this point way earlier:

“It’s a buttoned-up version, a repackaging, of ethnic cleansing...The forced removal of...non-white people.”

An apparent white nationalist demonstration on a busy overpass near London, Ont.'s downtown on Sunday afternoon is concerning for witnesses and experts who track extremist behaviour.

I wish that even one time in ten I saw Universal Basic Services mentioned alongside or instead of Universal Basic Income. UBI is great, but it is still subject to market fuckery. Direct services - food, healthcare, education, etc - would not be, at least not to nearly the same degree.

Alberta being over 30% is WILD. But I do wonder, to some extent, if there's an oil-money-is-really-bad-for-a-lot-of-people theme here.
Newfoundland and Labrador percentage of people living in food-insecure households is almost one in three at 30.1%.
News to me that food insecurity in Alberta is so high though, a surprise, same with SK.

The thing that climate deniers never seem to get is that they're right that the IPCC is not telling you the full, accurate truth. They're just very wrong about what direction you have to head in from the IPCC literature to get to the full, accurate truth.

No more pipelines. And definitely no Northern Gateway!
Danielle Smith just suckered Mark Carney into reviving the Northern Gateway pipeline.
This is the antithesis of "nation-building."
There is no economic, political or environmental case for Stephen Harper's dream.
This won't end well.
For Canada or Carney.

My latest bedtime reading has been Steinbeck’s (unfinished) take on Arthur, and I had very high hopes for it, and fortunately it has been absolutely captivating so far

Why did you destroy the rights of trans people?

Gravity is the curvature of spacetime. You follow the lowest energy path through a 4-dimensional construct and hope for the best.

The American dream is now just Lewis Black continuously screaming "WE HAVE TO AGREE ON WHAT THE FUCK REALITY IS!"
This does feel like a major crossing of the Rubicon – the world's best-funded and in many ways most powerful public health agency is now actively pushing disinformation.

I know there's a *lot* going on to care about at the moment, but this one really is significant, and matters well beyond the US.
The CDC website now disseminates disinformation about vaccines, claiming erroneously that infant vaccines might cause autism, when we know conclusively that they do not. It is difficult to overstate just how dangerous this is. www.cdc.gov/vaccine-safe...
