while I’m on a nostalgic kick for songs I was introduced to by the Guitar Hero games, I still think Cliffs of Dover is one of the most beautiful purely feel good pieces of music ever. like that’s what a perfect sunny day sounds like
regrettably, I think the only consistent attribute of my favorite music is that it is big and dumb. pop, rock, dance, metal, rap, does not matter as long as it is big and dumb. this post brought to you by me getting the itch to listen to motley crue tonight lmao

First week had 16 people, last week had 13, this week had 10............. only the strong survive. I was also worried about the 9-10:30 time slot being too late for me and getting sleepy, but instead I am simply so amped that I don't even want to go to bed after, I wanna stay up thinking about BOOKS
Before we started I was like "wow, the weekly meetings are an hour and a half, and we're only reading about 70 pages a week, are we going to have enough to talk about?" WHAT A FOOL I WAS, I feel like we could've kept going for another hour easily
Our first meeting was tonight and it was so so so so nice! READING GREAT BOOKS AND THINKING HARD ABOUT THEM AND TALKING ABOUT THEM WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE THINKING HARD

One thing I’m looking forward to seeing when I test the campaign version of Before the Season Ends is getting a better idea of the split of different kinds of NPCs and how many we really need

lmao I just saw a review of the new Wuthering Heights movie that suggests that they completely adapt out Hindley Earnshaw as a character??? and I looked at the cast list and there is no one listed as playing Hindley??? what???

Hey @jenkatwrites.bsky.social: just wanted to let you know that I finally drafted the "Bling Ring dungeon crawl" game, to use as an example for the students in my current Indie RPG Studio class. It's not good yet, but that actually makes it a better example, so they can dissect its problems.

I put on the football and fell asleep on the couch, another step on my terrifying journey into becoming my father

I need starfleet academy to introduce one more faculty member who shows up randomly to deliver targeted wisdom at one of our main cadets so I can complete something insane I have been cooking in the notes app

For whatever it’s worth, I had started this and then set it aside for a bit because I just didn’t have the focus for it that day, but I have come back to it and am really enjoying it now

I have a lot of questions about who is actually purchasing these hundreds of LLM-generated “novels”. Are they reading them? There’s already vastly more human-written novels published in a year than even the most avid reader could begin to scratch the surface of.
I'm not kidding when I say this should be illegal, even if it weren't also a transparent scam on this idiot's part.
“If I can generate a book in a day, and you need six months to write a book, who’s going to win the race?” God this is bleak

Wow can’t believe it’s finally the big day (the day I finally take down my Christmas tree)
February 8, 2026 at 1:48 PM
I'm sure it's just because I happen to be enjoying them at the same time, but Don Quixote really makes all the toilet humor in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms seem completely apropos (there is so much pooping in Don Quixote). can't be having knights running around and not pooping, you know

I wasn't going to weigh in on the Neopets RPG but I have to say ONE thing lmao

It isn't THAT crazy for it to have rules about death and sex; there were tweens on that site writing stories about their neopets going through straight-up game of thrones breaking bad shit. I know because I was one.

I love the Gold Zone coverage of the Olympics. Yes I do want to watch two different curling matches, a hockey game, and freestyle skiing all at the same time. Just blast that into my brain please

Bunny tracks in the snow going right up to our front door this morning 😭 I’m sorry it’s so cold, bunnies, I would let you in if I could 😭 I hope it is warm and dry under the shed

MY FRIEND COLIN IS HERE NOW, YOU SHOULD FOLLOW HIM, I peer pressured him into becoming a game designer and he's real good at it
After being encouraged repeatedly (lovingly by @jenkatwrites.bsky.social and @czamboni.bsky.social ) I've finally joined.

Well, hello! I'm Colin, and I've been designing games for a few years now! For those curious:

one of my discord servers has a "star trek containment zone" thread, ostensibly so it does not overwhelm all other movie and TV conversations, but 80% of it is just me posting like this at random hours

Is this a safe space to admit that I always get super emotional about the Olympics? Like tearing up at every opening ceremony about wow, peace and cooperation are beautiful and the community of nations is real. I’m cringe but I’m free

This is what we HAVE, and I can imagine what the other three MIGHT say. I imagine that a knight might be charged in the name of the Crone to be wise, or to heed wise counsel; in the name of the Stranger to not fear death or to be willing to risk one’s life

thinking about tomes
it was really a hop skip and a jump from these to RPGs when I was a tiny tween lass, because you know what these big shiny magical tomes look like? the 3.5e covers, which I am adamant are the best-looking D&D books, regardless of their content

caught today's Dunk & Egg on my lunch break (I didn't realize they put it up at 3 am instead of the usual time???) and I am going insane, I could run through a wall, I could run through ten walls

Dragonsdawn was my unexpected favorite of these books, though I loved them all as a tween/teen, and I especially bloved this cover. Sorka Hanrahan being a feisty horse girl when we first meet her and then growing up into the first queen dragonrider was EVERYTHING to me
DRAGONSDAWN (1987)
Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 25” x 36”

This was the first cover in the Dragonriders of Pern series to feature the beloved fire lizards and I really enjoyed painting them. 1/5

It’s funny how in ep 3 it was very easy to be like “I’m reading too much into this interaction between Jay-Den and Kyle” and in episode 5 Kyle is looking at Jay-Den like he wants to devour him whole and saying “you got a capable bearing” while flirting
"You got a capable bearing" as a pickup line is driving me so insane that I am going to become a danger to myself and others
