Yeah I think this maneuvering was not a cold, rational attempt to get mainline institutional credibility. It was the same shitfit everyone else threw, just starting from a more decent position.

Yeah it's not great. There's really no one who has produced actual (good) results in D.C. though, so it's not like they're facing much competition.

This was also true in the pluralistic day school I went to: MoDox parents cared more, so collective services got increasingly Orthodox despite most of the students coming from Reform or Conservative congregations.

I think to the extent it is a useful storage center for the kind of foreign policy people who would be down to condition aid in a Pritzker administration, it's useful.

I mean as an alum, I'll say "It's not really clear to me that [J Street] has produced anything of substance in terms of policy" is a reasonably accurate statement.

My experience with J Street has been a mix of those people and Jews who want to work in foreign policy somewhere where they only want to yell at leadership rather than [REDACTED] everyone they work with and then themselves.
