I feel like we're in a weird world where the average Dem partisan, engaged voter is better informed than most of their representatives
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

Primary them all!
🚨 Tim Kaine is saying the quiet part out loud - underscoring why anyone shouldn't be satisfied with any of the "no" statements or posts from Dem Senators.

If Dem Senators are truly disgusted with this save they should be calling on #SurrenderSchumer to step aside as the Leader immediately.

This dude fucking rocks and is the only person other than AOC and the Khan I'd like to see run for President.
"When it comes to the issue of Palestinian rights going forward, I will say that the younger generation, of both Jews and non-Jews, take seriously the idea that we should have a principled, rights-based foreign policy— something I've long believed in"

The quintessential example of the pro-Israel motte and bailey in action: it's not apartheid because the occupied West Bank is not a part of Israel, but everything in the occupied West Bank is a domestic issue for Israelis and the US has no business dictating to the Israelis on this.

As far as I'm concerned, the case against working to change the Democratic Party from within through electoral politics collapsed with Mamdani's win last Tuesday. Doesn't mean the left will inevitably win or that it won't be a grueling struggle. But ... I mean, come on.
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

If these people want to avoid internal recriminations, heads need to roll.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

if El-Sayed pulls it off I think this could be right. the ACA will be so gutted that just patching the holes won't be that appealing.
I think Medicare 4 All is going to rise from the ashes as a popular policy position for 2028

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

co-conspirator pardons are themselves an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy and thus inherently invalid
Trump’s pardon attorney Ed Martin claims Trump is pardoning his Georgia co-defendants and other “alternate electors.”

Note: Trump’s Georgia co-defendants are charged under state law. The president can’t pardon people for state crimes.

To put it another way, *capital* is perfectly capable of organizing decarbonization. The problem is *capital-owners*, who are political actors and not just the embodiments of the accumulation process. Elon Musk is symptomatic here.

Not soliciting business but if you credibly believe your company is breaking the law and you will not be listened to internally, there are whistleblower attorneys. The Anti-Fraud Coalition has an excellent directory of my colleagues who do this work.
fyi there are usually corporate teams - legal, public policy, internal compliance units, tax, hr etc - which know these things are going on but often dont want to know officially. an easy way to make them have to push back is to put it in writing and send it to them as an inquiry

Went to repost this and then depressingly saw it was from 8 months ago. This is still true, and I am now convinced it will remain true until there are successful primary challenges nationwide to the "roll over and play dead" Dems.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.
