Also a lot of homeless people have been abused by "good Samaritans" offering a place to stay! People don't want to couchsurf with a stranger! They want their own home, with a door that locks, that they have control over.

One thing that strikes me here is that it has indeed been “lower-level” regular folks who have the most willingness to stand up to ICE
We can debate who *should* bear the burden of opposition. Or we can look at who is already doing so right now, and ask how to support and protect them.

Like, I do not know anything about MDC's history of highway designs or airport planning but this feels like something that was copied because it "sounded right" rather than actually examining if it was accurate or relevant to a THERE ARE NAZIS IN THE STREETS scenario.

The Ike and the Dan Ryan did decimate Black and Jewish neighborhoods on the West Side, but the absolute worst area for highways and highway noise is again, the far NW Side, where all the cops live.

Also, flight paths vary by city. O'Hare and Midway flight pathways are the most annoying for residents in Chicago's coplandias than anywhere else.
