My books of 2025. The best for me were (in no particular order):
- Pratchett, Terry: Noční hlídka (Night Watch) - What can I say? I am a sucker for Pratchett and Sam Vimes. This particular book was 11/10 for me.
- Sapkowski, Andrzej: Rozcestí krkavců - Again I am a sucker for Geralt :)

The Trump-Putin Pact already exists, and we should act accordingly. There are some things we will never change with nice words or smart clothing. If you are worried about those things, you should understand where Trump's tactics come from. From Russia.

It is unbelievable.

This week Trump made Duda wait 1.5 hours for a 10-minute meeting, Rubio canceled on Kallas last minute, and on Friday, it peaked with the Zelensky shit show. Let’s see if EU leaders show some spine in London today or just let themselves get walked over again.

Congratulations America, you have managed to elect absolute assholes.

UN should be abolished. The fact is Russia is an aggressor that occupies parts of Ukraine and violates the UN charter. Yet 83 nations either abstain or vote against resolution calling spade a spade.
Ukraine resolution at the UN called Russia an aggressor and demands the full withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

The United States, Israel, and Russia voted against it.

Every free democratic country around the globe voted in favour. #EndImpunity

Germany might have a sane chancellor for the first time since 1998. But what is concerning to me is that almost half of the votes went to extremist parties (AfD, Grüne, Linke, BSW). In the former DDR these parties took more than 70%.

Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels haven't aged well. For example, Moonraker - published almost exactly 70 years ago in April 1955 - features a villain who's a super-rich industrialist and rocket-maker seeking to cause chaos because he's a secret Nazi. Such a silly idea!

Sorry, America. You are now officially a complete and utter clown show. Pains me to say it.
By voting to confirm RFK Jr., the Senate “is wagering the future of our public health system on a prayer that a conspiracy theorist can build back up the agencies that he and his supporters have spent years breaking down,” Nicholas Florko writes.
RFK Jr. Won. Now What?
America’s health is in the hands of an anti-vaccine conspiracist.

Books I've read/listened to in 2024. The best were (in no particular order):
- Bungay, Stephen: The most dangerous enemy - One of the best war books (the best?) I have read so far.
- Freeman-Shor, Lee: The Art of execution - excellent book on investing, too bad I am not able to take the lessons :(.

Olaf is lucky that the bar to being considered worst German Chancellor in history is very high.
