This paper looks excellent: expanding Medicaid coverage reduces reincarceration, primarily thru financial support, maybe also med treatment.

And, unlike policing and prisons, it reduces crime AND makes life better.

In the 80s my mom moved to Manhattan with no lease, no money & only 1 outfit that included a bright red pair of pants. She moved into a shared room at the YMCA which I didn’t even know was a thing. I try to remember to bring that energy with me to law school 👭🏻
