Just to give you an idea on how unnecessary it is to "bring back American films", Top Gun: Maverick, a movie that is unapologetic US Navy propaganda, became the 11th highest-grossing movie of all time. The American film industry is doing just fine.
Trump says movies produced outside the U.S. are a national security threat. So he’s imposing a 100% tariff on all movies that are “produced in foreign lands.”

Any time this story comes up, people assume that ALL DVDs are doomed, but no. They're not gonna last forever, but apart from some mid-2000s WB movies and sets, optical media is pretty damn resilient. There are tons of LaserDiscs old enough to be your dad that still work.
