I should add that in our house the eponymous park a few kms upstream is always referred to with the same short form you use for the river

We don’t call it that but the offspring are frequently reminded that “if you’re not careful you’ll end up with your ass in a boine”

Evidently they have never seen any sitcom ever made in the last 40 years that has a family in it.

I look at it as “recovering catholic” because, like someone who is an alcoholic, I’ll always be one even though I no longer do the things that made me one in the first place.
