This is such solid communication on the impacts of budget cuts from a local, trusted source.

We need people in public health to do this.

My state rep is all-in on bringing state workers back to Lansing. Because they want to spend tax money on buildings? And because there is a “growing number of complaints about lack of assistance”.

This is nonsense, false, and makes me furious.

I grew up in a Catholic community and the new Pope gives me hope. I liked where Francis was leading the church and hope Leo continues.

I’d also warn everyone to temper their optimism at a “progressive pope”. He may be seen as “progressive” to Catholics, but that will still be conservative to most.

Gov Whitmer said she has no intention of forcing State Workers back to office. I hope she keeps her word!

I like to think it’s all the calling and emailing I’ve been doing. 😂

My message to my state reps should be that if I didn’t have to commute I wouldn’t have 30 minutes a day to call them…

It’s easy to attack the Peace Corps when you’ve never served. Easy to slash AmeriCorps when you’ve never received support in your rural clinic or struggling farm. Easy to mock career diplomats or cut veterans’ benefits when you’ve never worn the uniform or walked the long, uncertain road of service.

Matt Hall makes me furious. This would have a detrimental impact on his own constituents’ ability to work for the state. It’s inane that he would be pushing this.

I called my local state rep urging them to say no to this inequitable policy. And I’ve emailed Whitmer.

Today I called my State Rep to urge him NOT to support Matt Hall’s push to force state workers back to office.

I was shocked that their staff: 1. Answered. 2. Were pleasant. 3. Chatted and asked questions. 4. Told me he’d call me if he heard anything.

Maybe local politics are where it’s at.

Found out at Easter that my very laidback, mellow, optimistic aunt has been contacting her representatives regularly. If you’ve upset her enough to chew you out you know you’ve really gone off the rails.

Today I added @vanhollen.senate.gov to my daily calls. I have been thanking representatives that are using their power to stand up to the administration. It is inspiring to see representatives actually take action.

I wish my MIReps would do literally anything.

Hope is a practice.

Hope is:
✅️putting your phone down
✅️playing a game
✅️reading a book
✅️resting
✅️watching comedy
✅️going outside
✅️dancing/singing/listening to your fave music
✅️enjoying sweets

Hope is necessary.
Hope is practice.

Friends, many of us are finding it hard to feel hopeful. And that’s ok. When you can’t feel hope, do hope. Hope is getting out of bed. Hope is telling jokes, writing that paper, smiling at a stranger, permission to rest. Hope is a practice. What does hope in action look like for you?

Goodnight 💚

I called MiRep Barrett about the Save act. And he responded by email telling me that one ballot was cast by an immigrant in 2024 in Michigan. So we need a law to protect our elections.

Complete idiocy.

So let’s disenfranchise millions to stop one instance of voter fraud? Smart, Barrett.

Yes! Love this!

While I want the boys to see us being politically active, I do not feel comfortable bringing them to protests currently. It’s essential for one of us to stay home with them, even if we both want to be at every march/protest together!

Some invisible, essential, appreciated labor.
hey while we’re joining hands, thanks also to everybody who stayed home with their kids and kept their friends’ kids so their partners could go march. necessary work.

Love this photo from above the Lansing, Mi #handsoff protest! It’s from this Lansing State Journal article. Can’t wait to hear some final numbers from around the country. It was great to gather today. Next time I’m going to have a better sign.

Everyone needs to call up their Republican members of Congress today & ask them why they’re raising taxes on their own constituents. Make them own this because they do.

We keep hearing that Elon Musk and DOGE and Secretary Kennedy are focused on “fraud, waste, and abuse.”
But they aren’t eliminating it.
They are engaging in it.

Loved to see those final 45 minutes before the record being broken!
Cory Booker as he breaks Strom Thurmond's speaking record: "I'm not here because of his speech. I'm here despite his speech. I'm here because as powerful as he was, the people are more powerful."
