For Aimetor, perhaps it'd be their commitment to honesty and openness, even when it would make their life easier to just lie and hide the fact that they're a Dragonblood (thus playing into the Dragonblood stereotype of being dishonest).

Does Harriet know that they're married? Absolutely. Does Harriet know that Gem is oblivious? Well, she knew Gem would eventually start forgetting who she is, and has noticed her growing more distant, but doesn't realise Gem thinks she's married to someone else (Ed, who's actually Harriet's brother).

#WritingLifeMonthly 8: The theme song for Gem from In Reverse would have to be a song played, you guessed it, in reverse. I just looked up songs that sound good backwards, and one of the suggestions was MK Ultra by Muse. Here it is reversed: www.youtube.com/watch?v=crV-...

For my sci-fi story, the main sources of conflict I want to explore are 1) exploitation of the desperate through unfair trade and 2) authoritarian control, each represented by one of the two main antagonists, who I'll cover on Sunday. (5/5)

Finally, a romantic source of conflict for Gem once she starts developing feelings for Harriet is her belief that she can't be with Harriet, who's married. Little does she know that Harriet is married to HER. (4/5)

The source of conflict that makes building the Time Reverser difficult for Harriet is that the instructions are absolutely ludicrous and send them all over the place on wild goose chases. This causes conflict for Gem as well, who gets dragged along. (3/5)

Gem has several disabilities, mostly coming from being in reverse but also having been deafened by the gunshot that started this all, which make her life difficult and are a source of conflict. They make it hard for her to have control over her life and express herself creatively. (2/5)

For In Reverse, the reason Gem can't just use the Time Reverser again to right time for herself is that she soon ends up at a time before the Time Reverser is finished being made. The one time she tries to use it on herself while it's still complete, Harriet stops her. (1/5)

As for Gem (from In Reverse), her costume would already be made and hanging in her closet. It's after Halloween that she'd have to take it apart into its component materials. Or maybe Harriet would do it (which, from Harriet's perspective, would be actually making the costume). (3/3)

Aimetor, of course, wouldn't have to make a costume; they'd shapeshift into it. They already change their appearance all the time, so for a costume, they'd go for something exotic and nonhuman. (2/3)

Generally, having a mage along could be very useful, but the downside is that mages need to eat significantly more than the norm, even when not actively using their magic, so if food on the island is scarce, a non-mage may actually be a better bet. (5/6)

The other thing that would be useful is if the person happened to bring a portal stone along, but I'll assume we lost all our stuff. Besides, people don't tend to carry them around because they weigh a tonne (often literally). (4/6)

Still, picking a goddess feels like a cop out.

I'm assuming this island is outside of Nemoria, because a connection to the Land of Souls would be too convenient. There are some who can connect from anywhere, but I have yet to come up with any specific characters besides the gods who can. (2/6)

Meg is not at all competitive, and will tend to give in to avoid a fight.

Harriet is a friendly sort of competitive. She doesn't need to win every argument and won't start fights during boardgames, but she will put in her all in winning said boardgames. (2/2)
