considering writing a rant about the slow murder of the window title bar, send your favorite examples of apps that have customized and cluttered the title bar so much you have to pixel hunt just to move the window

did you answer "click the unlabeled icon in the top left corner, whereupon a search field will be revealed at a completely different location"? good job!

clicking the search button (it has a tooltip on hover!) reveals a search bar in the center of the app under the main navigation

ok sorry i need to rag on gnome a little more. let's say you want to install something from the app store. the #1 action someone is going to take when opening this is searching for an app. you would expect a big search bar front and center with your cursor already in it, right? where is it?

the main question every linux desktop environment designer asks themselves is: how much padding should i put around icons? an insanely excessive amount or like a pixel?

uncomfortably tight margins on XFCE app dock

Learned that I am being laid off from Heart Machine, and will be leaving the studio later this month.

I noped out of gnome pretty early (the big emtpy top bar and making you hit the upper corner before you get to see the app selection at the bottom of the screen immediately convinced me the designers are incompetent) so this in-depth look was delicious to read
