This was not a VAR intervention was it? They called it off on the field, right?
That's always going to make it difficult to recommend a review to give it, but if anyone can find any impact on the goalkeeper's ability to play the ball, let me know. Should have counted IMO.
There is further controversy at the Etihad Stadium as Liverpool think they have equalised, but after an intervention from VAR it is ruled out.

Virgil van Dijk's header is chalked off after Andy Robertson, stood in an offside position, was adjudged to have impeded goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
November 9, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Was that wrong? Should he not have done that?
November 8, 2025 at 9:57 PM
I think we can all agree that the start of this game has been very, very funny. Ok most of us can agree.
November 8, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Two questions:
Was she in an offside position? If yes, she's clearly committed an offense by interfering with play.
Was the defender's play enough to reset the attacking possession phase? If no, the incident is reviewable as part of the lead up to the goal. #NWSL

The answer fwiw is yes (CHI/DAL in 2001). It is always a possibility with the three-game format, but it's also rare because a lot of circumstances just have to line up.
Nashville & Inter Miami oddly have a lot of shared history, big moments against each other. It continues with tomorrow's decisive game 3.

Jack Maher: “I don’t know in the history of MLS there’s ever been a time where you play a team four times in a row."

Miami were awarded 4 penalty kicks in the 2025 regular season, and I've seen lots of arguments that this is abnormally low, but it turns out 4 is actually the mode of the data set. 7 other teams finished with 4 (ATL, HOU, MIN, MTL, PHI, POR, STL).

The standard is pretty clearly laid out for all to see. The five members of the Disciplinary Committee all agreed that this was a missed red card AND PRO agreed with their ruling. Not even the first time this has happened this season, much less past ones.
Inter Miami out here just saying “the Disciplinary Committee should not be a thing.” www.intermiamicf.com/news/inter-m...

This has annoyed me for years. The badge says Red Bull New York, matching their usual naming convention, they insist on RBNY being the abbreviation, but we were supposed to call them New York Red Bulls? So silly.
New York Red Bulls seem to be officially switching to Red Bull New York. It’s been named this internally for years. Look at #RBNY. I think they tried this back in 06 and it failed.

Much like Sports Illustrated Stadium and Red Bull Arena I don’t think everyone will switch.

My interpretation of this isn't that the YC given is wrong but that they're fining Fray for simulating that there was contact with his head as that would amount to attempting to get an opponent sent off unfairly by making it look worse than it was.
Ian Fray has also been fined for simulation/embellishment for this incident in the 4th minute that saw Eddi Tagseth given a yellow card. The booking was the primary reason for taking off Tagseth uncharacteristically early in the second half, according to BJ Callaghan.

Assignments are out for the 5 games necessary to complete Round One. None of these were assigned prior to the completion of SEA/MIN on Monday night so there may be some insights to be had about performance evaluations from games 1 and 2.
