In Heth for Dima, I took idea of lightning bugs and a terrarium and made Light Mites. In exchange for food/housing they'll live there and provide infinite light as long as the colony can thrive. They only need some dry sand and minor foliage.

More animation practice, of course. Obsessed right now.

Only 1 rich old lady that was truly a gem so much so that I personally walked her to the store next door to buy a binder, so we could organize every newspaper cutting /certificate of her grandson's. She wore a fur coat, pearls, like 1920s classic.

The rest were rich in all the wrong ways 😅 2/2.

2 jobs ago, I worked in a gift shop in the "print shop" where I had to typeset invitations and print on Hallmark cards/stationery.

The rich old women who would pull up a chair and sit beside me for 40 mins micromanaging my type setting on COREL DRAW for brunch /baby shower/ wedding invites 🥲 1/

Coincidentally, I was just talking about adv. English class yesterday. How several of my English teachers really taught me how to research and be thorough. To give citation (credit) where due.

In relation to today where society's ability to research, comprehend, and fact check are nonexistent.

AI would never have been viable had it trained on stock images & common license work, or was subject to follow the law with consent, credit, and compensation.

What's sad is it started creeping in a decade ago but no legislation, and then almost seemingly overnight was shoved down our throats.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Your art is adorable and youthful...it has that magical, colorful (albeit less neon) magnetism to it that Lisa Frank art had for kids!

I would have swooned over a back to school aisle of your art lol 💜 (and I love it as an adult of course 🤭).
mmwoodcock.bsky.social
I mean this as a compliment, but I wish I were a kid again, and you were the 'Lisa Frank' of my youth!

All the stationery, pencils, stickers, folders, backpacks, posters, holographicsss ✨😩

(I know Lisa Frank is sus as a business owner, but the art had a huge impact nevertheless! Core memory!)

True Grit Texture Supply is yummy. They have a free sample pack from newsletter sign up, but I paid $12 to get a PDF license to use them commercially and have since bought many more packs!

They have great preview images to get a good idea of what you're getting! I looove texture 😁

Great thread on a long-time tracer and grifter.

I didn't know him before his scandal, but I know him now in his true form which is even better cause i don't have to feel disappointed over another 'artist' being a lousy scammer.

Seemingly through his /entire/ career. 😐

James C Mulligan is going after vids and people who call him out for selling AI images. He’s using copyright as an excuse to get them removed, which is so baffling considering he’s a serial tracer. He has claimed official Bambi background art as his own, but there’s so much more.

A long 🧵

You'd think with ppl who work at Disney or are over like the historical aspect of Disney would recognize pose copies at least. Or raise eyebrows.

Why did he get away with SO much fanart anyway? He's not the only dude to work at Disney.

Great thread! I hope he accepts losing his 'career'. 2/2

I say this w/ my full chest & voice:WHAT A FUCKING LOSER.

Also, did him working with Disney somehow give him access to images/archives/files to copy? How did no one recognize?

I know some original cells and concepts are scanned on internet, but some of these images seem archival or gifts. 1/

Ah but see, if you did a quarterly newsletter, then if 8 mos goes by, you've only missed 2 👀

He has this majestic presence but doesn't seem to know what to do with it. It sometimes looks like nobody's home 😆 I enjoy personifying him as a silly character in my mind.
mmwoodcock.bsky.social
I absolutely picture him in a line up of gentleman in butler suits (or similar fancy suits), but his bow and vest are slightly crooked, he innocuously towers over the other guests like Mr. Squirrel, Mr. Porcupine, Sir Weasel, they all side-eyeing him a little displeased by his encroaching presence 🧐

I'm not near the ocean, I suspect that's why the cost is abysmal for me 😂 IDK if you like tomatoes, but salmon baked in garlic butter/herbs (in a foil sheath) served over rice with roasted grape/cherry tomatoes is delish! 🍅

Pretty much all my favorite foods in a bowl 🤤If i could afford it, I'd eat salmon every friggin day (it's like $25 for whole fillet 😭).

OMG amazing! I have 3.0, too, so happy to know this is available! 🥳

You know, I looked up just now about built in timers on CSP (as a user myself), and came across this (see image).

Have not opened CSP to confirm & might be different based on license type (subscription vs one-time perpetual).
mmwoodcock.bsky.social
Also, not sure what software you use, but SOME have plug-ins or built in timers that will tell you how long you've been working on it (based on active interaction with canvas, not necessarily file open).

Something to look into maybe!

I think when I did full illustrations anywhere from 10-24 hrs. Jokes on you though, I don't even do full illustrations: Portraits, practice drawings, and WIPs for life! 😂

(Actually, I have several full pieces 80-90% done that are sitting on year 3,4,5 as a WIP. They'll get done eventually 👀).

2 Qs:

1. You don't get any of the shipping fees on Inprnt right? (No profit from it?)

2. Would it be possible/option if I paid the Inprnt price on Ko-fi for an 8x8" size and printed myself on at home printer?

I understand if not since it might pose risks of misuse 🙏 I really love the art!

More animation practice. The clouds were a headache- I was trying to remember how to slice up a repeating pattern, so i could 'scroll' them across as an infinite pattern, but it didn't quite work. Link to better quality in comment.

REALLY inspired by Blue Turtle on YT right now.
