Spring of 2023 I had planted quite a few bare root Sharp-lobed hepatica as well as round lobed hepatica. This spring I finally got the see them bloom and one lovely spring day I captured this Carlin's mining bee (Andrena Carlini) nectaring from the sharp-lobed (Hepatica acutiloba).

It's now winter and we are deep in the throes of winter blues. Everything is practically dead, and to help with the big SAD I figured I would post highlights of this past year, like finding this Bellflower resin bee, Megachile campanulae, on my wintersown American Bellflower, Campanula americana.
