I have played Atari today.
Oh wow. This might be my new favourite one of these, although it's a close-run thing with "doggy-dog world".

Like, last time I saw Candy Crush (which was a good few years back, I'll admit), they had one power-up that cost £35. Single-use. That's more than quite a lot of actually good games cost! If they get a few gullible/ill-informed people to pay up for that on the regular (and they do) they're sorted.

This is what always gets me about reports like this. "Mobile game is ridiculously profitable!" sounds worrying for PC/console games until you realise that nearly all of those profits come from never-ending microtransactions, often so people specifically *don't have to play the game as much*.

FEATURING a *mostly* all-star cast (I say that, because I'm in it as well)

Not just @alexhorne.bsky.social @5teviem.bsky.social @benstarr.bsky.social @misterabk.bsky.social @rosieisaholt.bsky.social and @disappointment.bsky.social but, like, loads of other people too, and they're all fab in it!

That "I do" has ensured I will never take anything by this writer seriously again. Assuming I ever see them again, which is probably unlikely.

I do lots of research for both my day job and my own personal projects. Have never once opened ChatGPT for "research", or even considered using it.

Nope. That post you're linking is a hastily assembled replacement for the now-deleted original. You can tell by the timestamps. The OP's post above is from 11:13am, and this new post is from 11:26am.

It consistently amazes me not only that people think AI is "good enough" to do stuff like this, but also that they very clearly don't bother to actually *look at the damn thing* after generating it. The mistakes on this are immediately, glaringly obvious.

Ninja Golf is pure gold. Proof that even the silliest idea, if taken seriously enough, can make for a great game.

We lost our Meg long before her time in early 2024. We still miss her so much. Cats truly are family members, and it's always heartbreaking when you have to say goodbye. I take comfort from the fact that Meg (and Ruby before her) knew she was loved, and I'm sure Gatz is the same.

It's actually out in two days time, but the soft embargo is today. :)

So sorry, Kim. He looks like a truly majestic boy, and I'm sure he's full of happy memories to take with him.

The system requirements for this make for interesting reading. Recommended 16GB RAM for a rather unremarkable-looking 2D platformer???
