In my corner of the Baltiverse, I meet a lot of people who are desperate for control. Sometimes, that's only natural. When everything is awful and out of control, you look for the one thing you can have power over. In other cases, folks are on a constant power trip.

Those folks can be exhausting.
Tina Tunstalle is frustrated with how police are handling the case, so she hired a private detective to investigate.

Investigators denied the family's request to review police body camera video from the scene to determine the level of emergency care.

I don't want the top five facts presented in a press statement. I want the backstory.

Also, I fished out audio from the night of the Inner Harbor shooting to get a better understanding of what happened.

The legwork detectives did to find a man who shot and injured another person in Fells Point over the summer made it possible for them to identify one of the suspects involved in a shooting that injured an 18-year-old man near the Inner Harbor months later.

I listened to the police response to the shooting and it sounded very much like there's no ShotSpotter coverage in that area. The gunshot victim may have been lying there "for some time" with people just walking past him.

Southwestern District detectives are investigating a shooting that has injured at least one person. There are multiple crime scenes around the 3900 block of Stokes Drive.

My understanding is that the gunshot victim climbed over a fence to save his life. There's a blood trail that backs that up.

Doing a museum heist to grab gold and gems? So boring, so basic. Doing a museum heist to steal a Rembrandt to bargain with prosecutors to reduce your sentence for other art thefts? That's Myles Connor.

Myles Connor is one of the very few people alive to have come out ahead after lifting an artwork from the wall of a museum, as Anthony M. Amore explores in his new book.
