Yesterday I called up Dad's pensions to inform them of his death, cleaned out a couple of drawers and odds and ends, and even managed to cook myself a dinner. I was functional. Today I'm absolutely paralyzed and don't want to move. I guess grief is like that.

I know that what I did for Dad isn't an option for many, but I'm so glad he could stay in his home until the last five days of his life. I feel like that was a little victory, that maybe I did an OK job with him after all. Or else I'm just telling myself that to keep the guilt to a manageable level.

Hopefully the whole Bari Weiss thing and Ezra Klein thing starts waking people up to the fact that corporate media is mostly populated with mediocre people who have made millions and gained unbelievable influence because they threaten nothing and tell wealthy people exactly what they want to hear.

And thank you for thinking of me. I try to keep busy, but the evenings, when he used to sit and watch TV and doze off with me on the computer together in the living room, are the hardest. That's when the quiet hits. But I don't miss the snoring even now, LOL.

He was getting progressively weaker & more tired over the summer & he fell while using his walker when his legs just gave out under him. Blood Na level too low, TSH too high (he took med for hypothyroidism) and his slowly failing heart and kidneys just couldn't bring him back. His body wore out.

I am a Yankees fan and I agree with this take. Besides, the Yankees don't even deserve to be in the postseason this year.

Having the Giants game on without Dad in his recliner to watch it is just plain wrong.

I don't know how I am going to do this.

If they didn't work, they either worked previously (while married, too) & stopped to raise children, or lived with parents/siblings to save money while, again, raising small kids. The TV sitcom 50s was a fiction for most, afforded only to the upper classes. One income didn't cut it even then. 2/2

I found a box of letters that family and friends wrote to my dad when he was in the Army 1951-1953 (luckily Germany not Korea) and it's just such a glimpse into everyday life. Noteable is that most of the women worked outside the home at paying jobs, even some with small children. 1/2

My 96 year old father died Wednesday night and it's sinking in how my entire life was devoted to taking care of him and making sure he was comfortable and as OK as possible.

They are sadists. Look up the symptoms of being a sadist and they hit every one. Normal people do not enjoy inflicting pain upon others. They derive joy from it.

"A socialist is just someone who is unable to get over his or her astonishment that most people who have lived and died have spent lives of wretched, fruitless, unremitting toil."

"Come Armageddon, come" is not the lyric you want running through people's heads when you're pushing your product.

Does anyone know about 300,000 missing children that Trump was talking about in his UN speech? And allegedly 30,000 children have been reunited with their parents? What the hell was he talking about? Is this a lie? (Not getting into the hypocrisy of Trump taking about trafficked children right now.)
The previous administration also lost nearly 300,000 children. Think of that. They lost more than 300,000 children, little children who were trafficked into the United States on the Biden watch, many of whom have been raped, exploited and abused and sold. Sold. Nobody talks about that. The fake news doesn't write about it with many others, young children who are missing or dead. And we found a lot of these children and we're sending it back and we've been sending it back to their parents. They said nobody knows who they are. They said, "Where do you come from?" And they'll give us a country and we'll find out and we'll figure it out, or we'll bring them back to their homes. And the mother and father rushed to the door and their tears in their eyes. They can't believe that they're seeing their son or daughter, their little son or daughter again. We've done almost 30,000 of them so far.

But he's the mostest fittest President that ever presidented! Walking up that stopped escalator should have been super easy, why, he could have run up it, he's so healthy! Karoline, are you implying that Your Leader might not be as in shape as he claims? For shame!

I take the spiders and crickets that find their way inside the house this time of year back outside without harming them. It's a tiny amount of mercy for tiny creatures that reminds me I can do things that matter, even if those things are tiny.

As goofy as this sounds…

Name 1 thing you’ll do for yourself this week

To remind you of humanity.

Don’t let folks steal your humanity—your soul

In a sense, this is a form of resistance

I’ll start.
Eating apples & honey on Rosh Hashanah to wish for a sweet year for all who wish that for others
