We’re off to the desert. I took this shot in the remote south end of Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The tall cactus is an endemic to eastern San Diego County called a Mason Valley Cholla and it can grow from 9 to 10 feet high. 🌿✌🏻

Is the black goo edible??? #mycology

Found some particularly photogenic shaggy manes yesterday. They are ink caps and will slowly disintegrate into a black goo. What blows my mind is that they are edible and I have friends who enjoy them. 🌿🍄‍🟫
Two cylindrical looking mushrooms with a whitish base colour and shaggy protrusions all along the body. Near the bottom of the cap, you can see black where it is starting to disintegrate into ink. Three tallish cylindrical mushrooms growing out of the ground. They are sort of white with shaggy protrusions all the way down. The two on the left are starting to disintegrate into black inky go, and you can see the black rising up from the bottom of the cap.

This would be cool. However, we have probably had enough surprises this year. I think they could wait a few more years....

Bad News for Apple and IBM.

Shots fired, literally in the case of this ad, by Commodore as it pitches the Commodore 128 as the business computer of choice.
A rather clever ad with a photo of a C128 computer with a bowler hat (representing IBM) and an apple bitten into with an arrow through it resting on top and the tagline. It also lists of the pros against the competitors such as an 80 column display and up to 512k of memory.
