By now I’m turning off the Slack ping noise, the sheer volume of stuff at work that leads people to ping either me or my team is driving me mad. The slack notification noise now has an inherent “oh what fresh hell has opened now” feeling and I don’t like computers causing that in me.

1. Buy screen from an online vendor.
2. Turns out that vendor listed it mistakenly, cancels order.
3. Buy screen from Dell directly.
4. Screen is out of stock and Dell tells me that it’ll be included in the next factory run, delivery date in about 1.5 months.
I just want a new screen, man.

Old speakers died. Decided I’ll get some good speakers this time. Read comparisons, decided to get actual monitors this time. Price on Thomann was okay, so yeah, let’s go.
What I *did not* do was check how large they’d be. When the Thomann package arrived, I had a faint inkling of “oh no”.

Got a new saw that can effectively cut angles into thin plywood, so my shitty boxes are now prettier.
This entire hobby is very lovely for reasons of object permanence, wood doesn’t disappear when you turn off a computer. :3

Increasingly aware that I either get to be medicated for ADHD or drink alcohol if I want to sleep well at all and that’s not a trade off that makes me happy.

I have come to the conclusion that the Earth Defense Force games are the perfect Bad Game, in that everything in it is The Room levels of off, from the copy/paste gameplay, to the absolute glue-eating competition, to the fact that EDF6 contains all of EDF5 and you can use a one-line mod to unlock it

Today I am complaining about the thickness of wooden paenls I can buy in the store, rather than about bad takes online. My life has improved, the programmer to woodworker pipeline is real and very very good for my mental health.

I think in some ways I should be grateful that Factorio teaches programmers in general about systemic emergent effects.
