Not the point of Paradise Lost of all things, but funny how often reading this I'm like "well this is kind of heretical."

Tempting as a prot to qualify, but Francis seemed a good man who met this moment in history in a rare way. I will see him again.

Tbh if you want to see the "Ghibli style" being used to make historical atrocities more approachable and to struggle with the beauty it can't help but find there, The Wind Rises is one of the greatest movies ever made.

The thing is "who is my neighbor and how should I treat him" is the #1, hit you over the head ethical lesson of the New Testament

I am not exaggerating when I say that JD Vance is literally taking antichrist viewpoints. Jesus explicitly does not say what Vance is claiming but actually regularly preaches against it.

Christ literally says one cannot be His disciple if he adheres to Vance’s views.
I mean yes, there is such a concept in Christianity. It appears quite notably in the letters of Paul, for instance, where it’s a concept he *relentlessly* argues against, and in the Gospel where it’s a concept Jesus very much repeatedly scorns. So it is technically in there!

Something I don't see ppl comment on that I hear from my dad about all the time about is how drudge has been very anti trump for years. Really funny but I wonder what the guy's audience is now.

Performed an experiment and had a friend watch Acolyte and just skip episodes 3 and 7. He claims it didn't feel like he missed anything, though I get u miss some details of the Sol characterization. I like the show in any case.

Going to visit and go to church tomorrow with my very pro Trump and pre-mil family and try to keep from saying "who is like unto the beast?"

Loved PKD's semi-autobiographical Valis, where he works on (and perceives evidence for) a gnostic nightmare exegesis after experiencing a Pauline theophany experienced after a loved ones suicide. It's mostly a man falling apart while doing theology combining every heresy out there, it's awesome.
