More than 50k students went on a strike this Friday to protest against forced conscription. Nobody I talked to mentioned Russia. Do you know what they did talk about? Gaza, not wanting to invade other countries, being worried about greedy politicians and CEOs. The propaganda machine is struggling.

I could see them making it for one year and then deciding that a new necessary price point isn’t worth it, and wrapping it up

Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

BREAKING: ‘This hurts’: UNL eliminates 4 programs despite faculty, student pleas
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln eliminates the Earth and atmospheric sciences 8-0, educational administration 7-1, statistics 7-1, textiles, merchandising and fashion design 7-1 programs.

Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

Fascism is not an electoral project. It does not need to win at the ballot box. It does not need majority support. It does not care about democracy. It doesn't even care about society. It only recognises a blunt racial animus of violence.

Stop treating fascists as if you can defeat them by voting.
