"Idealists" approach the world as if it is an utterly broken thing created by the evil western hegemony and if you just ended imperialism then everything will be alright. I don't disagree with the evils of imperialism but again that shortsightedness is damn near just as dangerous as a cruel empire.

"Political realists" approach international affairs as a system of deal making and rational actors. It completely ignores bad faith gangster style leaders like Netanyahu and doesn't know how to deal with genocidal creatures like Putin.

And that's just one example. The broad swath of people are approaching this with a too limited viewpoint. Societies, cultures, ideologies, are things that have evolved over thousands of years. The current international system should be viewed as an organism.

A ceasefire isn't a bad idea. But you have useful idiots and bad actors making the argument without stating what they want to do during the ceasefire. It doesn't help.
