18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

Measles vaccinations fell to 40% during pandemic, before it was 85-90%. people aren’t getting vaccine because of many factors, including vaccine fatigue

Who would have imagined that having to get a series of Covid shots would lead people to give up on vaccines that have saved lives for decades?

It’s never too late to start masking. It doesn’t matter how many covid infections you’ve had, any infection delayed or prevented is a good thing.

You’re also helping protect others when you mask up. You’re breaking chains of transmission. You’re saving lives.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

The Texas measles outbreak has spread to New Mexico.

Reminder that the measles vaccine is incredibly effective IF you get it.

Respirators work well too! There’s never been a better time to mask up.

My guide to respirators, the fall of public health and how to protect yourself & your community:
We’re Witnessing the Fall of Public Health… and Your Best Tool is a Mask
Measles in Texas, bird flu in Louisiana, tuberculosis in Kansas and Covid everywhere. Public health has been dying a slow death for years, we can’t count on it anymore. What can we count on? A mask!

With all the uncertainty around public health in the U.S., now is a great time to wear a good mask like an N95.

They’re not just for Covid! A respirator can help you avoid flu, colds, measles, TB and more.

It’s a powerful act of solidarity and resistance. It’s a sign of community care.

From an FDA probationary employee: the firings are coming from outside the agency without cause and with zero input from supervisors (as promised.) More firings expected between now and Tuesday. Do not open the termination email before you download your documents and performance evals.

Make your calls. Go to your town halls. Ask your state and local officials what they are doing under state and local law. Rest. Hydrate. Make soup for the hungry. Don’t let people tell you that you’re doing it wrong. Not a sprint. Not a marathon. A relay. Find your team. Thank you.

1. It's Friday, which means FluView. Let's take a look.
This has been a very full-on flu season — the worst since well before the #Covid pandemic. #CDC says 2024-25 is now classified as a severe flu season, the first since the very bad 2017-18 season. Red arrow this year, blue arrow 2017-18.
