Movies Silently

Silent films and the silent era, same as the birdsite

It’s amazingly delicious

It’s funny, I cab take or leave cinnamon in sweet dishes but I love it savory

The thing about retro living is you get all the fun without any of the hassle. Kids can collect VCRs but they can digitally rent too, they don’t have to send in a paper check and wait for the tapes to come in the mail

I was just a but odd because most of the movies my family owned were from the 1930s, so I was extra extra vintage because I inherited my dad’s nostalgia (1940s baby, so the 20s and 30s were his retro sweet spot)

So to a kid born in 2010, 1990s and 2000s gadgets have the same cachet that the 1960s and 1970s have for me. Normal kid stuff and I hope they enjoy themselves as much as I did

Everything made ten or more years before we were born seems so pure, so familiar yet so exotic (continues to flip through macrame book, which was itself a 1970s fad based on an 1890s fad, so we are due for a macrame revival in 2050)

The very first anti-Millennial piece I read was a rant about how they weren't "allowed" to mourn the recently deceased (and very Boomer) David Bowie because he "belonged" to Gen X.

The author of the piece is, no doubt, ranting about drinking out of hoses on Facebook even now.

I have many scale questions. Ginormous shrimp or tiny cucumber?

Those are usually a good starting point, fun and low pressure

And since I consider myself to still be a beginner, I can tell you up front if the books taught me anything (I recommend both, actually, so…)

I finished 15-minute Watercolor Masterpieces and am now working through The Joy of Watercolor

It occurs to me that my following every single tutorial in an art book, no skips, puts me in a rather unique (if slow moving) position to review. I’ll have to set up a ranking system

Right? As long as me at least

And a lot of comfort movies, which are always welcome

With the passionfruit outing the author as a Brit 😜

Right? Not everything needs virgin eyed

And more emotionally complex films as well. There's usually some subtle bit of acting or directing that I want to appreciate a second time at least.

I was fortunate in that my first time viewing was on the big screen!

Yeah, I don't understand Never Rewatchers. If it's a good movie, there's more to see each time
