Let me be very clear. Columbia’s number one priority is the money.

Rachel goes back to Monday nights after 100 days of Trump per her deal. Jen Psaki takes her slot rest of week.
Easy thing you can do to help save democracy: tune into Rachel Maddow each night, every night. She's saying what needs to be said from the biggest platform the opposition has. If we're all watching, it's much harder to cancel her because eyeballs = ad revenue and these fuckers love their money most.

America's greatest force multiplier and global strength has been its network of allies. Popular lore now sees them as a burden. So America is killing its alliances. The Trump-Musk-Vance administration's moves are an act of epic self-harm.

ESPN: Rice in 1975-86 ranked first in the AL in games (1,766), at-bats (7,060), runs (1,098), hits (2,145), home runs (350), RBI (1,276), slugging percentage (.520), total bases (3,670), extra-base hits (752), fourth in triples (73) and batting average (.304), first in outfield assists (125).
But to suggest Baines' numbers are even remotely boosted from steroids is something else.

It's also false to say they aren't comparable. I didn't say they were the same.

Rice>Baines, but they're comparable.

I did not remotely suggest Baines’ numbers were boosted by steroids; they were not. I was pointing out Rice’s numbers were a product of his time. Dwight Evans was a really good player worthy of HOF consideration, especially because of his unparalleled defense.

This is a case where numbers don’t tell the story. Jim Rice and Harold Baines are not comparable. Rice averaged 30 HR, 100 RBI and a .300 BA for a decade at a time — before steroids and 3 true outcomes — when those were HOF-worthy numbers. I believe in a “small hall” but would include Jim Rice.
This still bugs me.

1. Rice is Baines-level maddening. Doesn't measure up. Every time I think of Rice I think of
@keithlaw.bsky.social joking (sorta) 'Teh Fear' got him in. (LMAO)

2. Evans has a legit case, but got just half the vote from the Contemporary committee and that was that, apparently.
