I can hear Go Cubs Go clear as day from my couch. I paused the game before watching the ending to just listen. This is beautiful.

Thiessen having a good chuckle about his fired liberal colleagues - some of whom he worked with for 15 years - is a good reminder that token conservatives at mainstream news outlets are/were there to destroy them, not to contribute to them.

OutSTANDING work from Boyd tonight. In a game like this, you absolutely take 4.2 innings of scoreless-ish ball (even with a couple runners still out there). Cubs needed that tonight. Big effort.

It's so wild that basic, obvious, recognition of law and order from Republicans feels like such a big win right now.

"No team shows bunt more than the Brewers. They may not bunt but they SHOW bunt."

God this is the most Brewers statement to ever Brewer.

I am not. Prices never came down, but I did get a scorecard and am keeping score on my couch.

If vibes seem good by the stretch, I'm heading to Ballhawk Corner where I belong.

There are actually people who think Johnny Cash was uncool?!

Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

Just 'cause it has to be said every now and then.

GOP Senators and Representatives are obviously okay with...everything...that's happening.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

This is the most Postseason-Kershaw line to ever Postseason-Kershaw, and it literally might be his last boxscore.
A screenshot of Kershaw's boxscore showing he gave up 6 hits, 5 4 runs, 4 earned, 3 walks and two home runs while striking out zero in relief during the National League Division Series against the Phillies.

Well, this could get expensive, but now I think I'm obligated to take my 3-0 Postseason record back to the Friendly Confines tomorrow.

Oh — new reporting on Pope Leo from El Paso Matters, citing footage they have of yesterday's meeting.

Sounds like the pope was even *more* forceful in urging U.S. bishops to speak out about immigration than first reported.

I mean, that's…not subtle. elpasomatters.org/2025/10/08/e...
“I was struck at the beginning (of the video), it talks about the feeling of powerlessness, which I think is so much. I think it’s so important that we as a church give a message of hope in the midst of these horrible struggles, what’s going on in so many cities in the United States right now. At least the church cannot be silent,” the pope told the El Pasoans, according to a video of the meeting provided to El Paso Matters by Hope Border Institute.

Seitz responded: “You’ve spoken very strongly. We’re trying to do the same in our country and yet not get into the political fray the best that we can.”

Pope Leo told Seitz that he’d like to see the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops become more vocal on immigration issues.

“I mean, even within the conference, there are challenges. That’s one place they should be … I wish they were stronger in their own voice,” Leo said, adding that Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the president of the conference, should speak out more on immigration.

“There’s been some good movement in that sense, but I certainly intend to continue to encourage” U.S. bishops to address immigration, Leo said.
