Sebastian (he/him) here. I’m a trans historian who likes thick fog, banned books, and gays of yore. More details threaded below.

Haul from the $3 book sale at the Salem Athenaeum last month. I’ve been checking out “The Origin of Satan” from our local library for years as a reference and I am so excited to finally have a copy of my own.

And if you want, I’ll show you some of the fine ~figures~ in that drawing book…
Three books arranged on Sebastian’s leather-topped desk. The first,”The Origin Of Satan” by Elaine Pagels, the next “Drawing The Male Figure”, and beneath those a big art history book.

Whoa, hello. I’m back here on Bluesky again after stepping into the center of a curiously perfect ring of mushrooms during one of my brooding wanders across the misty moors.

How long has it been?

I don’t make the rules. Also I have had several shots of tequila*. But, I stand by everything I have said and affirmed.

if you let them decide what trans people can and cannot do with their own bodies, you're giving them permission to decide what you can and cannot do with yours next.

Gang, at this point I’m too disillusioned to expect all of you to mask always (even though you should), but for the love of GOD, please at least mask at airports and on planes when you travel to events!!!

I didn’t exactly intend to replace academic pursuits with aggressive amounts of D&D but I did just read someone having a BA in History as a Bonus Action in History so I think it’s happening regardless & tbh I welcome the change

a painting of a faerie knight made of rotting parts of human, animal and insects. The border is a bunch of purple mushrooms and a close up of the faerie piloting the knight.

Don’t buy stuff on February 28. Money’s the only thing these dicks understand.

Happy Valentine’s Day from your local, demon-possessed lounge lizard. Every-so-often, I creep down to Boston to sing. See you tonight at Poetry Brothel! I’ll be crooning again for all you lovers in Cambridge and keeping it extra sleazy.
A promotional photo reading: Baritone of ill-repute, Mr. Crane. Made to look like a late 19th century magician’s poster, featuring rich gold and red tones and a photo of Sebastian - a lanky white guy with black hair - listening to a devil whispering in his ear.

as a medievalist, as a church historian, let me say that within the long history of Christianity, I cannot emphasize enough how actually normal this is.

this is Constantine, Charlemagne, Frederick Barbarossa, Louis IX, even Henry VIII!

this is still Christianity, as empire-hungry as it is.

“To say no to President Trump would be to say no to God.”

Meet televangelist Paula White, who Donald Trump just appointed to lead the White House ‘Faith Office.’

This is not normal.

Already haunting your feed, but:

1) “American Wolf” by Nate Blakeslee and “The Passion” by Jeanette Winterson each ruined me very differently.

2) I would Do Things to John Childermass from “Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell”.

3) Pain au chocolat every time I hit the bakery for a coffee.
