Retro gaming, media analysis and dry wit. Or at least half-wit.
The thing I hate most about #whamageddon is that I'm always playing it even though I don't want to

The concept of needing to prepare for a war with Russia is... unpleasant 😳

@peterbrent.bsky.social You know, what I'm not looking forward to is when Hastie replaces Ley, says "we're all very right wing now" (probably with something veiled about climate change being fake), then gets a bump in the polls from ditching Ley.

Which will be trumpeted as "See? Moderates suck"

RIP to a games industry pioneer and legend, Rebecca Heineman (@burgerbecky.bsky.social) If your unfamiliar, look her up. Her career is like the story of videogames itself.

Just learned that Rebecca "Burger" Heineman died 😢

#Oasis were great live. I was never a huge fan, but I could always appreciate their musical significance. A real 90s music moment.

“If we want to have an honest conversation about who we are and how we got here, we’d do well to look beyond the perspectives of prime ministers preoccupied more with their personal legacies than the consequences of centuries of dispossession,” writes Grace Tame. satpa.pe/vlRVI5n
Tony Abbott’s warped story of Australia
Tony Abbott’s history of Australia is a version that sanitises the worst effects of colonialism and immigration policy, and leans into the destructive doctrine of Trump.

My sleepy 6yo just said "Thank you for everything" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I just passed an 80yo woman with a pronounced stoop doing the hula-hoop in the mall, so she could get a free doughnut.

I've found a new life goal #notallheroeswearcapes

My 6yo announced he wants 10,000 babies.

I asked if he really liked babies.

He said no, he just wants an army to rule the world.

He is now proceeding to describe the battles fought by his baby army on his behalf.

@peterbrent.bsky.social So what do you make of Barnaby going to ON? He must have lost a lot of standing in the Nats to even consider it

He'll prob keep his seat no matter what party he's in. I guess the Q is whether he can stop ON constantly imploding, or it just becomes another KAP

It's a sad state of affairs when the strongest rebuke of Trunk* that I've seen for a while was in a Netflix version of the Twits.

*autocorrect did this, and I'm not fixing it

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.

Best description of #Tron I've ever seen
Which means that everyone who DOES like it (and there are many, and many among them now make and make media about movies themselves) has been trying to recapture the *LOVE* they remember about it for 40+ years, like trying to fall back asleep into the same dream.

I came across this #Lawson poem, "Babies of Walloon", about a railway worker whose two daughters drown in a pool at Walloon. The younger was attracted to the Lillies and fell in, and the older tried to rescue her.

I got interested and looked it up.

Turns out it's a real event! 1/?

If the question is "has this baby done a poo", the answer is "yes".

Had a dream where I was being haunted by a demon. Horrible visions, threats, etc. Being unable to stop them, I started asking the demon what it liked to do with its spare time, where it came from, and why it seemed so angry. When it gave me visions, I would compliment it. (1/2)

Whole lotta people carrying Australian flags on this train.

I don't have a problem with the flag of course but this feels...ominous.
