I haven’t had a lot of good luck with bricks, but the lens is pretty nice adapted to digital so I should clean up that later one I have now and give it a go.

Actually no. It’s the original though I scanned it myself and tweaked the color balance a bit, but other stuff on the roll has that PI look.

Does seem like it’s some sort of camera problem based on your diagnosis.
Even a Nikon flash should fire from a standard hot shoe, it’ll just be at manual power settings which should be sufficient for a test (set it to like 1/16 so you don’t completely blind yourself)

Weird. Have another flash you could try on the hot shoe and see if that triggers? Would be add that a flash mechanism would just stop working randomly

Haha. I told myself that I wouldn’t buy anything new in 2025 unless a Chinon CE Memotron / GAF L-ES cam up as it was the camera I wanted for M42.
Luckily, 80% of my gear was given to me but then it’s hard to sell something o didn’t pay for…
