If true, this is a terrible mistake, especially with the prospect that solar panels would be optional. The failure to have a clear vision and get the basics right is demoralising and irresponsible. No wonder the young people I teach feel angry at politicians on climate change action.

While private jets are a problem - they’re only a small part of the problem (3% of aviation emissions).

International aviation carbon dioxide emissions totaled 492 million metric tons (MtCO₂) in 2023.

Of which private jets accounted for 15.6 of the 492.
