Trying hard to tend my garden. Somewhere along the way it got bigger. We're going to need to help each other.
Will someone please explain to me why the right is all about states' rights and individual freedom until they want to oppress someone?
Oh, wait, it was always about accumulating the power to oppress.

Thought for the day:
When you see someone struggling in the moment, ask yourself whether they need consequences or help.
I'm finding the answer is usually help.

Barry says it, and we ALL know it by now it's a 2 rules system, one for us and one for tRump/them hypocritical GOP MFers
Obama: Imagine if I had done any of this. Imagine if I had pulled Fox News’ credentials. Imagine if I had said to law firms that you will not be allowed into government buildings.

It’s unimaginable that the same parties that are silent now would have tolerated behavior like that from me

NEW: A federal judge in California has ruled that the Office of Personnel Management's directive to terminate probationary employees was unlawful. This marks one of the first rulings declaring Trump’s efforts to reduce the federal workforce as illegal.

We had to cancel our grand weekend plans for our fifth wedding anniversary due to the Trump administration's actions. What we're doing instead? Attending a protest.

Trump you can sign whatever you want, but we will hold you accountable every step of the way. Law and order matter!

I just contact my senators and U.S. representative expressing my concerns about DOGE. It's a tiny thing, but maybe in aggregate we can do something.

Contact your elected officials. Keep doing it. Tell them to protect our institutions before they are hollowed out and used against us.
Treasury, for example, is the keys to the kingdom. Control over payments and who gets them. Institutions, individuals, bank account information.

A sincere question: How can a new administration just create a new agency from whole cloth and they suddenly have the power to go into other agencies and take over their data and systems without any process at all?

I've been talking today with someone whom I respect immensely. A slice of our conversation has spun some thoughts for here.
Legitimate Stylistic Variation is the theme. The idea that something, or an aspect of it, isn't good or bad, it's just a different flavor. (1 of ?)

I'm trying to develop the habit of posting here, so please pardon some fluff while I build inertia.
Hoping to get back in the dojo tonight after vacation and the post-vacation cold. It's going to be 'exciting'.

I was chatting with a friend and the conversation made me aware that I've really come to be a lot more fierce about people getting to be seen as they are and included in our lives. I'm kind of over exclusionary homogeneity and willing to fight about it.
Real diversity, real people.

Calling out the bravery of Gisele Pelicot in making her stand so visibly. A lot of the punishments were too light for the guilty but this is progress and I salute her.

It's so satisfying just to block the MAGA trolls and deprive them of a platform. Before Blue Sky, I'd get wound up and want to fight with them. Now, it's just block and move on.

Ya know, I just can't find it in me to get uptight about Joe Biden pardoning his son.

Considering the backdrop of everything else going on, it's too far under the threshold for me to spend energy on it. Hunter Biden, go take this chance to straighten up your life.

Many people ask how we resist. First, urge all civil and business leaders not to surrender in advance. Second, support organizations fighting for democracy and the rule of law. Third, get involved with your local community to build a strong civil society.

I'm too full of love and joy and wonder to be stopped.

There are many heavy things in the world and they will slow us down but they won't stop me.
Love. Joy. Wonder.

First post here and still getting set up. I'm a married cis-het white guy who values kindness, justice and science. A lot of other things too. My life is run by a sweet old cat and my wife's Boston Terrier.
I'm a nerd. It's a big secret, but I'm a nerd.
