I'd guess the dynamic in London (several pubs, Oyster cards, good public transport over a wide area) may be different to those in mediocre market town (one pub, at best two, that is endearingly lax).

I'll go further: subsidise pub drinking and make buying alcohol from the supermarket staggeringly expensive*.

Should go further and tax supermarket beer at a higher rate than at the moment- raises revenue, targets the biggest source of binge drinking and might help get people back into pubs.

"Who funds you?" was seen as a childish gotcha rather than a basic, essential sanitary check. Instead, loons who were given fake jobs laundering views and policies that benefited no-one except a few spite-addled American billionaires became disproportionately influential.

From what I hear from my sources, most schools could do with a lunchtime 6-7 Appreciation Club, led enthusiastically by the least cool teacher in the school, where students get to write long essays about how funny today's brainrot phrase of choice is.

Also even if you replace like for like, such as buying a seemingly identical pair of socks, not only is it not expensive but it is almost always in some way worse. A bit cheaper, a bit less well made, a bit smaller, a bit thinner
