It's no exaggeration to say that every time I go to design a character, I reference Polygon Treehouse's old tech blog posts. I can't resist a little lighting and texture work, but I always weight it against how much you can do with a palette and silhouette.

I work on months-long animation projects so I try to stick to Blender LTS versions but 5.0 might be the one to break me. Being able to use the compositor on Video Editor strips is really the missing piece of my workflow and shaves an entire middle step out of render > composite > video edit

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

This really might be my most anticipated game right now, this looks *so smooth*
Sometimes I hate myself for the kind of gameplay ideas I have, coding this tumbling block physics with the screws was SOO hard

But I'm happy that the block puzzles are getting more varied and better integrated with the platforming, pacing and all

(game is ABYSS X ZERO, btw)

This title seems like clickbait but this is legitimately a game changer - a way to not just have a rigged Lattice modifier, but to have one you can move around freely on a rigged mesh to deform as needed. I can't see a world where I don't throw this thing on literally every rig moving forward

Ive been asked a couple times how I do the 90s cg thing, so here goes

I model pretty lowpoly. Without subdiv, a model usually winds up being 3-5k faces. It's actually part of the workflow to model *with* subdiv on to simulate NURBs without having to use Blender's sorry excuse for a NURBs system lol

#b3d As I'm venturing into making dramatically more complicated shaders, I have learned about and fallen in love with the "Ctrl+H" shortcut which hides every socket on a node that's not in use. Additionally, I make tons of copies of my Group Input node so there's no spaghetti wires. Before/after:

VOID DEV THREAD TIME!!

We struggled to get Beatrix/Bunlith to render properly due to the shows limited color range, so we decided to embrace the 'crushed blacks' problem and gave void a 100% blackout shader and focus purely on silhouette
