the thing for me as someone left of the dems is: the old normal sucked! obviously the stability and stuff of shared society was good, but i don’t want to go back to normal. i want something better.
We’ve also got to stop imagining that this will all somehow stop and go back to normal overnight once Trump makes some specific key mistake or, eventually, leaves the stage entirely.
We are a decade into Trumpism. Whatever comes after him for the GOP isn’t going to be a McCain or a Bush.

Even if Ellis wasn’t a partisan stooge (which of course, he is), this would be a horrible idea. The person developing and implementing policy should not be the same person tasked with assessing its legality.
